Dear members:

The Certified Public Manager Program is launching a new initiative to help its students develop and enhance their management skills in areas identified through assessments as needing improvement. Coaching by a CPM graduate will be incorporated as a tool to assist these students in improving their skills. The CPM program, in cooperation with WSCPM, hopes that CPM graduates will find the opportunities to be mentors and coaches attractive venues for helping fellow public managers, and meaningful experiences furthering the public management profession. 

This message is intended to give you, the WSCPM member, advanced notice on this opportunity and hopes to arouse your curiosity and pique your interest. More specific details on the expectations, time commitment, and guidelines will be available around the end of June 2010 after an assessment of student needs is completed. We will share those details with you as they become available. 

While we encourage all of you to think about this exciting endeavor and watch for the details, we understand that no guarantee is implied that all interested applicants may be matched with a student, nor all applicants would meet the selection criteria.

A half-day training session to discuss expectations and roles for mentors/coaches will be provided after the selections are made.

I hope you’ll give this opportunity some thought now and more serious consideration later.
